There are swingers clubs… and then there is Les Chandelles.
Updated October 2026 with our July 2026 visit. Reviewed by Cate after taking two groups to the club.
Les Chandelles is a small, sensual, velvet-wrapped jewel hidden beneath the streets of Paris, whispered about in lifestyle circles and often described as intimidating, elitist or impossible to get into.
We’ve now been twice, both times with groups we were hosting. In July 2025 we took 30 couples on a Sunday and every single person got in. In July 2026 we brought a different group on a Saturday, on our way to Cap d’Agde, and around half were turned away at the door. This review covers everything you need to know: exactly what happened at the door and how to give yourself the best chance, the dress code, prices, the playrooms, the crowd, and what actually happened inside.

How to meet other swingers in Paris
Heading to Paris? Before you fly, join SDC and set up a travel notification for your dates. Couples in Paris will see you’re coming to town, so you can start chatting before you land, arrange to meet for a drink, or plan a night at Les Chandelles together. It’s how we line up most of our dates when we travel.

How to get into Les Chandelles: what actually happened at the door
There’s no membership, no online application and no pre-approval. You ring the bell, the door opens just enough for staff to look you over, and they decide. Paris clubs are known for strict, sometimes uptight door staff, and Les Chandelles is the most famous of them. Here’s what we’ve seen with our own groups.
60 of 60
Sunday, July 2025
We arrived with a group of 30 couples. Despite the rules and the club’s reputation, everyone got in.
About half
Saturday, July 2026
A different group, warned in advance to dress right. Roughly 50% were still turned away. Saturday is noticeably stricter than Sunday.
The dinner reservation effect. The couples in our Saturday group who had booked dinner at the club’s restaurant were let in, though one gentleman first had to hire a pair of shoes from the club (awkward). Our theory: if you’re spending more, you have a better chance at the door. It’s not guaranteed, but if Saturday is your only night, booking dinner is the smartest move you can make.
One of our guests wore a light grey three-piece suit and was rejected. At Les Chandelles, that’s a day suit.
Our rules for getting past the door
- Go on a Sunday for your first visit. In our experience the door is far more relaxed than on a Saturday.
- Book dinner if you’re going on a Saturday. Every couple in our group with a dinner reservation got in.
- Men: wear a dark suit. Navy, charcoal or black. Light grey, beige and other “day” colours risk rejection, even as a three-piece.
- Men: dark leather dress shoes with a leather sole. No rubber soles, no loafers that look casual, no sneakers of any kind. Shoes are checked.
- Women: a dress or skirt with heels. Elegant, not club-wear. Slim stiletto heels are the safest choice.
- Arrive as a couple, and stay polite. Don’t argue at the door. If it’s a no, have a backup plan for the night.
Dress code: what to wear to Les Chandelles
This isn’t a “dress down immediately” kind of club. Many guests stay dressed up all night, so dress for a smart dinner date in Paris, not a night out at a bar.
Wear
- Men: dark suit, dress shirt, dark leather-soled dress shoes
- Women: cocktail dress or elegant skirt, stockings, heels
- Elegant lingerie under your outfit for later
- French-inspired glamour
Avoid
- Light grey, beige or other daytime suit colours
- Rubber-soled shoes, sneakers or casual loafers
- Jeans, T-shirts or anything casual
- Flats, wedges or flip-flops
- Ultra-revealing “strip club” outfits

Location and first impressions
Les Chandelles is at 1 Rue Thérèse in the 1st arrondissement, a few minutes’ walk from Pyramides metro and the Louvre, surrounded by restaurants and cobblestone charm. The entrance is a discreet door with no sign. Uber drops off right outside, which makes it one of the easiest lifestyle venues in Europe to reach.
The club itself is completely underground, which adds to the secretive, speakeasy allure. Walk down the stairs and you’re greeted by velvet drapes, mirrors everywhere, low lighting and burlesque-style décor. It feels intimate, erotic and distinctly French. Not flashy, not cold, not clinical. Just deliberate. And yes, there really is a little candy-and-fruit bar at the entrance. Very Paris.
Prices: what a night at Les Chandelles costs
| Entry | Sunday and Monday | Wednesday to Saturday |
|---|---|---|
| Couples | €60 | €120 |
| Single women | €30 | €60 |
| Single men | €120 | Not admitted |
Our Sunday night came to €226 for two, and €166 of that was drinks. Think €15 soft drinks and premium cocktails priced to match. You get a card at the start of the night and pay at the end. Expect elegant Paris pricing, not student-bar pricing, so pre-game with one drink at a nearby wine bar.
Inside Les Chandelles: bar, lounges and playrooms
Les Chandelles is small, no hiding that, but it’s beautifully arranged to make the most of every corner.

Bar and lounge
Right at the bottom of the stairs. A mirror-lined social space with a small dance floor, a pole, and excellent sightlines. You can see a lot from the bar. Music is a pre-set playlist, no DJ.
Back lounge
A quieter, darker nook for conversation, flirting, taking a breather, or watching the room from a distance.
Playrooms
Eight to ten rooms: small private rooms, group spaces, curtained rooms, open spaces with mirrors, and a semicircular bed area that’s voyeur gold.

Good to know: bathrooms are clean, towels and condoms are provided, but there’s no lube in the rooms, so bring your own. Bags and phones stay at coat check. The bar is small with one bartender on our Sunday, so expect a wait when it’s busy. There’s no BYO, and water is available but you need to ask for it.
The crowd: elegant, attractive, and very much an action club
On our Sunday it was mostly couples in their mid-40s, a few younger couples, about 10 single men and 3 single women. Everyone was very well dressed, and both the attractiveness and the effort level were high.
It’s an “elegant eroticism” atmosphere, not a rowdy party club. Play starts slowly, then builds between about 1:30 and 3am. That night we walked into a gangbang, partner swaps and several couples putting on shows. Elegant, but very much an action club.
Single men are only admitted on Sundays and Mondays. We didn’t feel overwhelmed by them, but they were very focused on sex rather than socialising. Several declined dances or conversation and were clearly waiting for a chance to join play. Not rude, just not there for chit-chat.
What actually happened: our night (podcast episode 204)
While I was mixing, flirting and catching up with friends, Darrell found himself in a threesome. And then a foursome. And then came twice. It happened in one of the semi-open spaces, so people could watch, partners could join, and it felt social, erotic and very Paris.
There was laughter, flirting and sexy banter, and even a moment where a man tried to join, only to be politely turned down because he had… a full bush. It happens. Respectful, sensual, fun, and a damn good night. We share the full, unfiltered story in episode 204 of the Wanderlust Swingers Podcast.

Is Les Chandelles worth it?
Les Chandelles is one of the sexiest, most elegant swingers clubs in Europe. Not because it’s big or flashy, but because it’s intimate, Parisian and unapologetically sensual. It’s not cheap, it’s not casual, and it’s not for people who refuse to dress up.
Go if you love atmosphere, voyeurism and elegant seduction, and you’re happy to dress the part.
Skip it if you hate dressing up, you’re on a tight budget, or a possible “no” at the door would ruin your trip. If you’re set on a Saturday, book dinner.

Les Chandelles FAQ
How do I get into Les Chandelles?
There’s no membership or application. You ring the bell and the door staff decide based on how you look and present. Dress very smartly (dark suit and leather-soled dress shoes for men, a dress or skirt and heels for women), arrive as a couple, and be polite. In our experience Sundays are far easier than Saturdays, and booking dinner at the club’s restaurant improves your chances on busier nights.
Why do people get rejected at Les Chandelles?
Mostly dress. On our July 2026 Saturday visit, about half of our group was turned away, including a man in a light grey three-piece suit, which the club treats as a daytime suit. Shoes are checked too, and rubber soles can get you refused. Saturdays are the strictest night.
Is Sunday or Saturday better at Les Chandelles?
For a first visit, Sunday. Our group of 30 couples all got in on a Sunday in 2025. Saturday is couples-only and busier, but the door is much stricter. Note that single men are admitted on Sundays and Mondays.
What is the dress code at Les Chandelles?
Elegant evening wear. Men should wear a dark suit with dark leather dress shoes with a leather sole. Women typically wear cocktail dresses or skirts, stockings and heels, with slim stilettos the safest choice. Jeans, sneakers, casual clothes and light-coloured daytime suits risk rejection.
Do I need a membership for Les Chandelles?
No. There’s no membership, registration or online approval. Entry is decided in person at the door.
How much does Les Chandelles cost?
On our Sunday visit, couples entry was €60 including drinks. Wednesday to Saturday costs more, around €120 per couple. Drinks are expensive, with soft drinks around €15. Our total for two was €226.
Are single men allowed at Les Chandelles?
Only on Sundays and Mondays. Wednesday to Saturday nights are for couples and single women.
What time does Les Chandelles get busy?
The club opens at 10:30pm, but play builds between about 1:30 and 3am.
Where is Les Chandelles?
At 1 Rue Thérèse, 75001 Paris, in the 1st arrondissement near the Louvre. The nearest metro is Pyramides (lines 7 and 14).
What should I bring to Les Chandelles?
Your own lube (there’s none in the rooms), a card for drinks, and a dress-code-appropriate outfit. Phones and bags are left at coat check.
Heading south from Paris?
Our July 2026 group stopped at Les Chandelles on the way to Cap d’Agde, and it’s a popular pairing for a lifestyle trip to France.
