One of Vanilla Alternative’s standout features is its expansive hot tub area—the largest we’ve seen in any club to date. By 9 p.m., this area was buzzing with energy, packed with guests enjoying the hot tub, nearby playbeds, and even a convenient shower. If you enjoy socializing in a relaxed, wet environment, this is the place to be.
Get Your Groove On: The Dance Floor
The club’s dance floor has recently been revamped, complete with disco balls, vibrant lighting, and a DJ stand. While they typically use mix playlists on regular nights, the club brings in a live DJ for special events, adding to the overall excitement. The dance floor is the perfect spot to start your night before exploring other areas of the club.
Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities
Throughout the night, we found the bathrooms to be clean and well-stocked with essentials like soap. The club’s commitment to cleanliness is evident, making for a more comfortable experience overall.
Diverse Playrooms for Every Fantasy
Vanilla Alternative offers a variety of playrooms designed to cater to different preferences:
- Dungeon Area: Equipped with a sex swing, St. Andrew’s Cross, paddle board, and glory holes.
- Couples-Only Play Area: Featuring multiple beds, a massage table, and a liberator.
- Hot Tub Area: More playbeds line the sides of this room, providing ample space for those who prefer a more open setting.
While the club doesn’t offer fully private rooms, there is one room with a curtain for a bit more discretion. The open layout encourages a more communal experience, which many guests enjoy.
Single Men: Fridays Are Your Night
Single men are welcome at Vanilla Alternative on Fridays and during special events. To ensure a smooth entry, it’s crucial to submit your membership application beforehand.
Convenient On-Site Accommodation
A significant advantage of Vanilla Alternative is its on-site accommodation. Ranging from £45 ($56 USD) to £85 ($106 USD) per night, these rooms are basic but comfortable, offering everything you need for an overnight stay. Despite being located above the club, we were pleasantly surprised by the minimal noise, allowing for a restful sleep after a night of fun.
Location: A Northern Escape
Situated 1.5 to 2 hours north of London, Vanilla Alternative is a bit of a trek if you’re coming from abroad or other parts of the UK. The club isn’t easily accessible by public transport, so renting a car is recommended. However, for locals, it’s a fantastic option with convenient driving access and plenty of parking.
A Few Minor Cons
While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, there are a couple of things to note:
- Bring Your Own Towel: Unlike some other clubs, Vanilla Alternative doesn’t provide free towels, you can rent them for a few quid at the reception or make sure to pack one if you plan to use the hot tub or play areas.
- Distance: The club’s location might be a bit out of the way for those not local to the area, but it’s well worth the journey.
Lux Lounge: A Summer Delight
Vanilla Alternative also features an outdoor area called the Lux Lounge, which opens during the summer months. Here you will find a 2nd large hot tub area as well as ample couch seating and then seating surrounding the outside. This area can easily hold another 100+ people and opening it up during the better weather months like Summer create a vibrant atmosphere and one where you can take a break between play *wink*
Final Thoughts
Vanilla Alternative is a standout club in the UK’s swingers scene, offering a welcoming atmosphere, diverse play areas, and convenient amenities like on-site accommodation. Whether you’re local or visiting from afar, it’s well worth adding to your list.
